Municipal Goverment Employee Training series with DVD is a five-part series produced specifically for Municipal Government Agencies as a new employee orientation or a refresher for seasoned employees.

After a nationwide study of municipal training practices, these programs were produced in cooperation with seven different cities to create the first ever relevant and realistic audio-visual training designed specifically for municipal employees.

One: Dealing With Difficult Citizens  The program follows five difficult situations city employees have faced in the past from the beginning of the incident to its successful conclusion, and includes explanations of how to assess the situation, how to position yourself, how to interact with the other person, and how to slowly take control of the situation This program gives new city employees validated techniques for calming emotionally charged situations successfully. (11 minutes)

Two: Standards of Conduct  Through realistic scenarios, new employees learn that to be a professional staff member, they must be a law abiding citizen and must understand what it means to display a professional demeanor. In separate discussions, employees learn what it means to be businesslike, the importance of respecting city property, what the citizens expect when it comes to being sober, being moral and being honest and why it is important to obey legitimate orders. (11 minutes)

Standards of Conduct

Three: Customer Service   In this program new city employees learn why most municipalities have become very good at serving their customers, both at serving the public and at helping fellow staff members run the city. They learn the importance of giving basic respect to each person they deal with, and the importance of being open and pleasant and truthful and sincere. They learn how to create a positive atmosphere, and see the value of being calm, patient, consistent and helpful. (11 minutes)

Four: Ethics  New employees viewing this program are introduced to the ethical principles common to all city codes. Through situations specific to cities, employees learn that they are expected to keep confidential city information confidential, that they must never show favoritism, that they must not seek special privileges and must never use city property for personal use. (12 minutes)

Ethics

Five: Preventing Accidents  Though we all know a lot when it comes to safety, this program explains what every new city employee must do to prevent work-related injuries, like learning emergency escape procedures, knowing where fire extinguishers and first aid kits are located, always wearing any required protective equipment and consistently paying attention to good housekeeping so spills and materials on the floor do not cause slips and falls. (11 minutes)

Preventing Acidents

By the end of each program, employees will have a clear understanding of the topic and what constitutes their best behavior and the standards expected of them as city employees.

Training programs are available separately or as a series of 5 in VHS or DVD formats includes a guide for each program.
